During a panel discussion on CNN tonight on Meryl Streep’s much talked about Golden Globes speech targeting President-elect Donald Trump, CNN political analyst Kirsten Powers got in a good shot regarding one panelist’s complaints about rich celebrities.
Continuing the conversation after a commercial break, host Don Lemon picked things up right where they left off. After panelist Kevin Madden explained why he and other conservatives didn’t like Streep’s speech, stating it demonstrated the blue/red state divide we have, Lemon explained that Trump himself is ‘The Apprentice’ and “Hollywood sort of personified.”
Lemon then threw it to Powers, who addressed something fellow panelist and Trump supporter Jack Kingston said in the previous segment, where he described Streep as “wealthy and whiny.”
“Jack, you were criticizing her for being a rich celebrity,” Powers said. “Isn’t that what Donald Trump is?”
The panel began laughing while Kingston stumbled over his words a bit. Meanwhile, CNN political commentator Van Jones licked his finger while saying “burn!”
The panel would continue the debate over Streep’s speech and Hollywood elites for a few more minutes.
