Fox News contributor Kirsten Powers clashed with Bill O’Reilly tonight over Ebola panic, telling him he shouldn’t be so “hysterical” about an epidemic in the United States. She said, “I’m not going to call you hysterical, but it’s bordering on hysterical.”
Powers argued the idea of a travel ban is ridiculous because 1) it’s not really going to be that effective, and 2) the United States is much better equipped at treating Ebola than West African nations are. O’Reilly insisted immigration shouldn’t accept anyone with a passport or visa from that part of the world (and he stood by his calls for the head of the CDC to resign).
Monica Crowley framed this as not just a public health issue, but a national security issue. That also set off Powers, who said, “We’re not being attacked by Ebola… nobody’s attacking the country with Ebola.” She kept insisting they’re overreacting, but O’Reilly shot back, “It’s not an overreaction to the nurse in Dallas.”
